A narrow escape

Of all the times of fun and banter, mainly about rugby, and always remembering to put the world to rights , we remember Marian and Graham especially for introducing us to walking in the Lake District.

Bow Fell was the chosen first hike. Marion and Graham , with his beloved red socks, map around his neck and compass in hand strode out leaving us to struggle to keep up. As we ascended the fog descended, getting ever thicker. Marian, serene and unflappable as ever, tried to assure us that everything would be OK. To cut a long story short, we finished holding hands in single file and "nowhere near an edge" in Marian's encouraging words.

You might think that this "near death" ( we have exaggerated it a bit over the years) would have put paid to any further thought of hiking up hills but of course it did the opposite and we fell in love with the Lake District as much as Marian and Graham did.

Thank you Marian and Graham for all the good times.
