I first met Marion when our son, Peter, when to Brunswick (1995), along with his friend Jonathon Christy. Marion made us feel very welcome and Peter was soon so settled. I loved the experience of taking Peter to nursery and witnessing all the enterprising activities the children undertook, under the supervision of the dedicated staff. The only difficult bit, was the temper tantrum Peter had, when I came to bring him home! Fortunately, Marion was always asking me to 'help out'. In the summer term, she asked me and my friends to paint an outside mural by the sandpit, using the pictures the children had drawn of themselves. Penny Chudleigh, master artist, combined all these pictures into a seaside landscape and Helen Christy, Mary Connor, Penny and me had fun donning our overalls and slapping on the paint. Everyone was very happy with the seaside scene we produced, representing the children's drawings as closely as we could. So Marion will always conjure up happy memories for me, but more than anything, I will remember her as the lady who started me on the path to become an Early Years Worker. When Peter had left Brunswick, she sometimes asked me back to work as a paid member of staff. I felt flattered and asked 'why do you choose me?'. She said she liked my 'patience and energy'. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I then went on to take a BTEC in Childhood Studies and have since had a very enjoyable 17 years working as an Early Year's Worker in Cambridge nursery schools. Thank you Marion! Helen, Peter and Roy Cross
